Rex PM automates the scheduling of recurring general inspections, but it is helpful to understand how the cycle works to ensure your inspection tasks stay on track.
How the schedule works
The first general inspection task is created automatically, ahead of the date set on the tenancy agreement, based on the recurrence settings configured for the property.
From there, the schedule advances each time the current inspection task is closed. Closing the existing task is what triggers the next inspection date to roll forward — the cycle is driven by task completion rather than the calendar alone. This is by design, as it prevents duplicate tasks from being created.
Important: If an inspection task is left open, the next inspection date will not update automatically. Make sure to close each task once the inspection has been completed in order to keep the schedule moving forward.
Manual adjustments
If needed, the next inspection date can also be set manually, giving you flexibility to adjust the schedule outside of the standard recurrence cycle.
